Zakat is the third pillar of Islam where all Muslims are obliged to pay zakat according to the provisions that apply in Islam, let's start to discuss about zakat.
Zakat is divided into 2
1. Zakat Mal is zakat issued from your assets or income that has reached the sensab with the amount of 2.5% of your total assets or income for 1 year.
2. Zakat Fitrah
That is zakat which is issued in the month of Ramadan until before the Eid prayer and is obligatory on every soul, both Muslim men and women.
O Muslims who are blessed by Allah SWT, let us issue zakat with a happy heart and the intention to help our brothers and sisters in need, let us not be reluctant to carry it out especially until we do not pay zakat, Islam is really questionable because with zakat the Islamic economy will be victorious and able to eradicate poverty if managed properly.
Furthermore, the people who are entitled to receive zakat are:
1. Fakir
A poor person is a person who is economically incapable and it is also difficult for him to fulfill his daily needs
2.Poor
Poor people are people who are only able to fulfill their daily needs and are also economically weak.
3.Amil
Amil is a zakat committee, namely people who take care of zakat from receiving zakat to distributing zakat to people in need.
4. Convert
A convert is a person who has just converted to Islam, this person is entitled to receive zakat.
5. Riqab
Riqab also called slave slaves are Muslims who are victims of human trafficking, maybe nowadays slavery is no longer there.
In ancient times zakat was also used to free slaves.
6.Gharimin
Gharimin is a person who is in debt to fulfill his life needs in maintaining his soul and self-esteem.
7.Fisabilillah
Namely people who struggle in the way of ALLAH such as people who preach, education developers, orphanages, madrasas, health etc.
8. Ibn Sabil
Namely people who run out of money on long trips, including workers or students who are overseas and are in need of living expenses.
Those are the 8 groups who are entitled to receive zakat, and I invite Muslims and Muslim women to always carry out zakat as proof of our Islam.
Next we need to know what are the benefits of zakat,
The benefits of zakat are:
1. Zakat as a manifestation of our faith in Allah SWT
2. Zakat as a form of our gratitude for the blessings of Allah SWT
3. Zakat as a place to grow good morals and also a high sense of humanity
4. Zakat to eliminate greed, greed and materialistic nature
5. Zakat to cultivate serenity in life
6. Zakat aims to clean and develop the property owned.
7. Zakat as a source of funds for the development of Muslim facilities and infrastructure, such as facilities for worship, education, health, social and economic development, and facilities for developing the quality of Muslim resources.
8. Building the welfare of the people through good zakat distribution
9. Cultivate work ethic, provide for yourself and family by encouraging someone to become muzaki

11. Zakat to Grow solidarity
